David Mukeria was born in Tbilisi, Georgia, 1954. In 1979 he graduated frm French Horn class at the Tbilisi V. Sarajishvili State Conservatoire and in 1985 conducting class under famous conductor Odissey Dimitriadi. In 1988 he was appointed music director and principal conductor of the Batumi Symphony Orchestra. Since 1993 Mukeria has been a principal conductor and art director of Batumi Opera House.
He has conducted following operas there: Zakaria Paliashvili’s Abessalom and Eteri; Revaz Laghidze’s Lela; Giuseppe Verdi’s Aida, Un Ballo in Maschera, Otello. His repertoire also includes Verdi’s Rigoletto, La Traviata, Il Trovatore, Macbeth, Nabucco, Giacomo Puccini’s Tosca, Madama Butterfly, La Boheme, Gianni Schicchi. Pietro Mascagni’s Cavaleria Rusticana, Ruggero Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci; Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s Iolanta, Eugene Onegin, The Queen of Spades, Georges Bizet’s Carmen. He conducted Verdi’s Aida in Moscow. In Aspendoz, Turkey, on opera music festival he staged Otello. In Tbilisi BRAVO festival he staged Tosca with famous singer Kalud Kaludov (Tenor) and Alessandra Mark (Soprano). David Mukeria is the laureate of state prizes of Shota Rustaveli and Memed Abashidze.
